ParBENCH© Version 3.2a is the definitive collection of utilities and install scripts for setting up a ParNET between 2 Amiga® computers. This disk contains all files needed to connect 2 Amigas® VIA their parallel ports or to connect an Amiga® to a CDTV® to use as a CD-ROM drive. Included in the collection are a slew of utilities to enhance the operation of ParNET such as:
ParBENCH V3.2 is an update to V3.1f (USA release) and 3.1G (UK release) and ultimately to the Commodore® USA distributed ParBENCH© V3.0 that was bundled with the Hypermedia Concepts Fred Fish collection. ParBENCH is now a Shareware collection with a $20.00 usage fee after a preset trial time. Check the internal docs for details on distribution and shareware requirements. Requires DiskMASHER© to decompress this Quarterback Tools® optimized floppy.
I feel that ParBENCH has finally matured enough to consider asking frequent users to send in a $20.00 fee. The way I figure it, where else can you get a collection of more useful programs that offers direct support from the author for so little! :)
This version incorporates quite a few new features, with one of the most significant being that all the documentation is in AmigaGuide® format. If you do not have AmigaGuide®, you need to install it first from the ParBENCH Setup Icon. To do so, double click the ParBENCH Setup icon, choose INSTALL then choose AmigaGuide®. If you already have the AmigaGuide libraries on your system go into the ParBENCH Utilities drawer and double-click on the ParBENCH.Guide icon. As the docs are in a hyper-text format, it is quick and painless to find the information you are looking for. If you are adventurous however, or just a seasoned ParBENCH User, you will most likely be able to get by without even a glance at the docs. BUT since I spent the better part of 3 weeks typing those @!$@%& docs in I hope you read them eventually!!:)
In the utilities drawer is a script called Remove.Old.ParNET. If you have installed a previous version of ParBENCH or ParNET, I suggest you run this script before you run the new install. This is not absolutely required, but it will get rid of some unneeded files and make a bit more room for you.
The Install script has been replaced with a SETUP script, as it now has the option to allow the removal of ParBENCH and all its associated files from your computer. The Setup script was completely reworked using New Horizon's fantastic FLOW thought processor. New features are detailed in the documentation and I encourage you to install it and browse through it. It has a greatly enhanced troubleshooting section as well as a source for ParNET adapters. I hope you like the new version! :)

I guess it had to happen eventually. The following legal mumbo jumbo was made necessary by some BOZO's fooling around with the ParBENCH contents, doing stuff like changing the credits to indicate THEY made it, adding files that don't belong or removing files needed for the disk to work! SOOooo..thanks to those BOZO's, here is the new copyright information for this collection. Read it carefully!
